With the objective fulfilled of having arrived at the Lost City of Colombia, we only had to return by the same road that we had traveled several days ago until we reached Machete Pelao and from there to Santa Marta. Our minds kept remembering the wonders seen a few hours ago, a good incentive to forget the miles ahead.

Day 4 - Last stage of the Lost City - Back to Santa Marta

After visiting the Lost City we spent a night in the Wiwa camp. A camp we already knew before given that we stopped at this point a couple of days ago. Also very close to here are a couple of waterfalls in the jungle and are perfect for a good swim.

A little less ahead of 16 kilometers which began with a steep climb and that two days ago was a real quagmire. However there was no hurry. The group was divided in two and we decided to meet for a snack at Cabaña Adam. Therefore, we could go at the pace we wanted as long as we weren't too late.

In my head was still the rich bath that we took in a nearby waterfall. The bad thing that this time we could not repeat because of the early morning and because we had to meet a specific schedule. We have to get to Machete Pelao in about 5 hours, where we would eat and leave for Santa Marta.

If we did not walk in less than 5 hours, we ran the risk of it raining again and the road between Machete Pelao and the main road could be closed again due to landslides.

We left the Wiwa camp at a rapid pace, avoiding the narrow path where it was difficult to move forward. Everything was muddy and stepping on an area that did not slip seemed somewhat complicated.

The landscapes we already knew and we were doing a similar time to the first day. That made us not take out the camera at any time and take advantage of the photos we took previously. With all this we barely wasted time and we quickly reached the Adam cabin after two hours on the way.

There we took a snack and waited for about 45 minutes until the rest of the group arrived. All this rest came to us phenomenal, even more knowing that the rest of the way was all down.

7 kilometers of endless descent. A known road and where occasionally the occasional motorcycle passed. They did what they could and it is not surprising that from time to time they had a fall through the mud. Moreover, the road was changed. There were many landslides and many puddles. In fact, the cement bridge that crosses a river near Machete Pelao and that we crossed the first day no longer existed…. He was literally taken by a very swollen river the night before.

This was not a problem since it was simply taking off our boots, walking between cold rocks and happily reaching Machete Pelao. The route to the Lost City was over.
